The piece about the virtual queue happened to us. Joined the virtual queue for Tiana’s at 7am, by 1pm we STILL had not been called to check in and thus we couldn’t join the Tron queue at 1pm. Ugh! We did not meet any characters this time as we have young children and waiting in long lines for character meets is not an option. Also, it froze up on us too! Very annoying! So glad you brought this up. You have the best, realistic breakdown of this system! 🎉

Very good video. I couldn't shake the thought that Disney has the data and all the complaints (including the young lady who featured the Galactic Star cruiser) I do believe they have been in the parks (there are sightings of them at Old Key West and the Riviera so I can't imagine they skip over the parks), but many companies are changing things to have the consumers they want and experience less the consumers they don't. This is not just Disney. American Express has had challenges with the number of people in their airport lounges. They have vastly increased member fees and retooled all credit cards. Young influencers find a poppy field or a place that's instagramable and the city has to shut access to the public down because thousands of people come to stomp all over the flowers trying to get the perfect pic. Kroger changed their triple coupon policy after that couponing show on TLC. I'm just saying I've noticed a trend and many companies try to "modify the behavior" of the consumer. Sorry this is so long. It's just on my mind.

Shannon great information and such an honest review from a true Disney expert. I went back in May,this year(2024). Used Genie+ and it worked so well. Paying the additional money was $$ well spent, I was able to get every single ride wanted in each park(s). Using the map of each park on my phone . I booked and rode each ride as I worked my way around each park. I also bit the bullet, and purchased individual LL’s. I also quickly learned that I was able to book certain attractions while also standing in the normal lines so I rode things more than once!! This new system seems to be giving the guest way less for the $$.

This is so sad. I've been a passholder for decades, and I really think this might be my last year. I'm not someone who stays at their very overpriced blasé hotels. Yes, I know they have a handful of lovely ones, like Animal Kingdom Lodge and Wilderness Lodge, but overall for the money they charge-not impressive. So I will have to pre-book at the 3 day level (aka the picked over time frame 😡) And because I have an annual pass (aka being the red headed step child) I will have to go through the selection process multiple days even though I'm going to the park 3 consecutive days (which they Already know because I had to make a park pass). 🤬 The lack of Character meet and greets is baffling, but mostly short sighted on Disney's part. 😈Or is it because I've heard others talk about the waits in the standby lines being inflated to "drive" up the purchases of this system. I think that's really why there's no Character Meets on there currently. Less options to choose from to drive up the scarcity of what they have to get more people to purchase. Iger is one greedy little miser. Say what you will about Eisner, but at least he understood the core Disney values and knew how to treat the park guests. Iger sees us as customers to fleece. Once my pass expires at the beginning of next year I think I'm jumping ship and going over to Universal Studios. That new park of theirs looks like it's going to be incredible. Flying dragons. What?! I remember when Disney was innovative. 😢 Now they're all about the college break rooms (whatever that is that they just opened in EPCOT) and poor high school play productions (Encanto "show"- my high-school actually put on better shows). The travesty is that it took them YEARS to do this. But they'll keep on this track until people stop going.

Ok, I am loving the Descendants song at the beginning, they should make Descendants on Ice. They did it with High School Musical (I will never understand why), they should do it with Descendants (it's the best Disney Channel trilogy ever).

When booking in advance overlapping is allowed for 2 LL. I have also found that once I selected times I cannot move forward in the day only back.

It's a shame that in the U.S., a small group of idiots ("the squeaky wheel syndrome") frightens politicians or big companies to change things (whether it's removing animals from circuses that take care of them and rescue them from poachers and hunters or removing statues that "offend" a small group) that affect a larger number of people who have no say. We went to the circus this weekend and I was impressed at how the Ringling people did a great show without animals. Very well done and our 2 year old granddaughter (and we) loved it. You did a spot on review.

Great video! I’m so unhappy with this new system. I was pretty good with genie plus and we could ride pretty much everything we wanted to with limited effort. This new system is such a downgrade for most people I think. The only guests it’s better for are ones who refused to take a bit of time to have learned genie plus so they are happy with getting 3 rides all day and that’s about it. I’ve used this new system twice now, at launch, and for a trip next week. Even 7 days out stuff is sold out or only late times. Same day availability is non-existent. Modifying these prebooked rides is a joke and the system forces times so you don’t have overlap. I had to spend forever talking to a CM to get earlier/modified times and they explained it’s because the system hates overlapping times so it’ll try and force you to things that don’t overlap. But they can manually do it for you. My family also aren’t early AM people. We would like to start our day a bit later and this system highly penalizes that. Now I have to preplan everything for the entire trip, have no flexibility to change if anything comes up, and basically have to start our day earlier than we like. And to top it off like you mentioned, I was on my phone SO much! Way more than genie ever had me doing… Oh and don’t even get me started on removing meet and greets from LL. That was a mind boggling stupid decision. And is, for sure, making availability worse for everything else. Mission Space sold out by 9am one of the days we were there… if that’s not an indication this is broken, I don’t know what is lol. I also suspect Disney is holding back availability for some reason but if they don’t get this handled, during the busy season the only people riding anything decent will be US resort guests with 14 day stays lol. So stressful and frustrating. Guests with those 3 day lead times or international guests that can’t book until in the US are basically screwed… there will be little to nothing for them. I sincerely hope Disney rethinks this and makes some major adjustments because as it is now, it’s made going on a Disney vacation so much more stressful and for less benefit to the guest than before. I don’t mind paying for a skip the line type service but they managed to make one that gives you less rides for the same price… why would anyone want that? Makes you wonder if the people making decisions have ever been a park guest..

We are coming from the UK at the beginning of September - not being able to book in advance because we are not in the USA has meant we just cancelled our onsite hotel and switched to one offsite… the whole system doesn’t seem set up very well. Can’t understand why character meets are not on it! I know that was the only reason my brother and his family used it.

Disneyland has mild temps and no humidity in June and early July.
